(About This Blog)
About This Blog
- Social Security
Insurance Dr. Noh
- Medicare & Insurance — Medicare,
- Retirement & Finance — Social Security, IRA,

Hello, and welcome. I’m Insurance Dr. Noh.
I have worked in the U.S. insurance industry for more than 20 years and currently operate Insurance Dr. LLC, an independent insurance agency serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
I created this blog to make complicated U.S. systems and everyday decisions easier to understand and more practical to apply.
My primary areas of professional experience are insurance and Medicare, but this blog also covers retirement and personal finance, everyday life in the United States, health and senior topics, college planning, and travel.
Why I Created This Blog
In the United States, the same rule or program can affect people differently depending on their circumstances.
Questions such as:
- Do I have to enroll in Medicare when I turn 65?
- Should I keep employer coverage or enroll in Medicare?
- Why can dwelling coverage be lower than a home’s market value?
- When should I claim Social Security?
- How should I think about IRAs and retirement planning?
often cannot be answered by reading a single rule.
After many years of working with clients, I have found that people usually want to know more than just what the rule says.
They want to know:
“What should I look at in my own situation?”
That is why many articles on this blog follow a practical approach:
Official rules → common real-life situations → what to check → common mistakes or misunderstandings.
About Insurance Dr. Noh
I have more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. insurance industry, including health insurance, Medicare, auto insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, and other insurance-related matters.
Today, I work as an independent insurance broker and operate Insurance Dr. LLC.
“Insurance Dr.” is the brand name of my insurance agency. The word “Dr.” does not mean that I am a medical doctor. It reflects the idea of helping people understand complicated insurance questions and identify practical solutions.
For insurance and Medicare topics, I try to include not only official information but also the questions, misunderstandings, and situations that commonly arise in real client conversations.
What This Blog Covers
Topics include:
- Medicare & Insurance — Medicare, health, auto, homeowners, and other insurance topics
- Retirement & Finance — Social Security, IRAs, retirement, and financial topics
- Life in the U.S. — practical information for everyday life in America
- Health & Seniors — general health and senior-living information
- College & Education — college admissions, financial aid, and topics relevant to parents
- Travel — airfare, stopovers, trip planning, and international travel
Insurance and Medicare articles draw heavily on my professional experience. For other topics, I focus primarily on questions I have personally encountered or researched and use official or reliable sources whenever possible.
How Information Is Prepared
For topics involving rules and regulations—such as insurance, Medicare, Social Security, taxes, and government programs—I try to rely on government agencies, official organizations, and primary sources whenever possible.
I also try to explain:
- where problems commonly arise,
- what readers should check,
- and which parts people often misunderstand.
Rules, regulations, insurance products, airline policies, and government programs can change. Before making an important decision, readers should verify current information with the appropriate official agency or qualified professional.
My Goal
The goal of this blog is not simply to publish more articles.
It is to create information that is useful, understandable, and practical.
I will continue to rely on reliable sources, explain complicated topics in plain language, and update or correct articles when important changes or errors are identified.
I hope this blog becomes a useful resource when you are making decisions about insurance, Medicare, retirement, education, health, travel, and everyday life in the United States.
Thank you for visiting.
